Acer palmatum "Autumn Red"

This cultivar was recently selected by our nurseries and has already become very popular thanks to its unequalled Autumn colouring.
The large seven-lobed leaves are usually 10 cm in length, from the base of the petiole to the apex, and 10-12 cm wide.
The lobes are deeply divided and the edges are evenly toothed. Different colour shades, ranging from the pink of the apical leaves to yellowish- green and bright green, can be appreciated on the long new leaf-buds (sometimes as long as 1 metre) up to late spring or beginning of summer. In the summer 'Autumn Red' becomes bright deep green in colour and does not brown in sun light.
The Autumn colouring can be compared, for its beauty and intensity, to that of a bush ablaze. The plant grows erect with an open foliage above 4 metres high.
