Acer palmatum "Aureum"
A golden yellow colour is typical of this cultivar is
typical. The lobe edges of the new leaves have light rusty shade which
soon disappears. As the season progresses, the inner leaves become light
green thus loosing their golden appearance.
The leaves, typically palmated, are made up of 5 medium-size lobes. The
lobes project outwards forming 5-6 cm diameter leaves with slightly toothed
edges.
The plant has an erect habit, bushy, and does not become very tall. The
golden colour of this cultivar is not the same as that of the more common
A. Shirasawanum aureum. In the shade the yellow will turn a light green
colour. In bright sun light the colour will take up some golden hues.
The Autumn colouring is a brilliant yellow.
