Acer palmatum dissectum
"Virdis"
The word viridis means any form of green dissectum palmatum,
just like the atropurpureum collects all the red varieties. In ancient
literature the original Latin description was 'Folia viridia', hence the
more general term viridis.
Probably there was a cultivar or a variety called specifically viridis,
but today this word is taken to mean any form of green dissectum.
The leaves are typical of the dissectum as they have 9 (7) lobes, they
keep their green colour throughout the Summer. In Autumn the delightful
golden colours, with the occasional crimson splashes, are predominant.
Its shape is typical of this group: strongly drooping with long branches
which give the mature specimen a dome shape.
