Acer palmatum dissectum

"Seiryu"

It s rare to see a Maple of the dissectum group with an erect habit, they all have either a drooping shape or a weeping shape.
This ribbon-shaped green leafed maple makes a pleasant contrast if planted near other more traditional forms of dissectum.
The leaves are of a nice bright light green colour. The newly open leaf points are slightly coloured in red. This disappears rather early leaving only the light green. The bark is dark brownish green.
The Autumn colouring is quite spectacular ranging from deep gold to light yellow with shades of crimson in the majority of the leaves.
The erect habit is rather strong but not excessively vigorous as in some types of large leafed palmatum. The adult plant is highly branched and gets stronger without too many twigs. Older specimens can grow as high as 4 metres in very fertile soils.
