Acer palmatum"Corallinum"

The Spring shrimp-pink colouring is the most distinguishing feature of this cultivar. In the summer the leaves turn a nice green.
The new buds of end of Summer and beginning of Autumn are scarlet.
The leaves are similar to those of the typical palmatum, with 5 or, occasionally, 7 lobes. The habit is rather branched and forms thick plants. In the main, very old plants do not exceed 2.5 metres in height. Sometimes the name 'Corallinum' has been erroneously given to the cultivar 'Sango kaku' (Senkaki').
Although the 'Corallinum' bark can take up a slightly purple colour in winter, it should not get confused with 'Sango kaku'.
